Abstract

The work seeks to present a proposal for the analysis of geography textbooks from the early years, starting from the perspective of cartographic language. Because we understand the importance of the main language of geography and the need for the process of cartographic literacy in the early years, as this language is essential in understanding themes, concepts and contents of geography, as it is essential for spatial reading, but for that, students must be literate . The proposal understands the relevance of the textbook as a material that must be analyzed in addition to current institutional programs such as the National Book and Teaching Material Program (PNLD) and the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). That said, criteria were elaborated based on theoretical discussions of researchers of school cartography.
