Reexaminar o que constitui o conhecimento válido e qual conhecimento é produzido e utilizado são as principais áreas de foco na relação da transformação da agenda no ensino superior. Esse artigo examina criticamente tais aspectos na relação da disciplina da geografia, com um foco especial na geografia humana, que é influenciada substancialmente pelas ciências humanas e sociais. O artigo usa especificamente a Afrocentricidade como um quadro metodológico e conceitual para informar a transformação da geografia humana e fornecer insight sobre como centralizar experiências e contextos Africanos no ensino e pesquisa em geografia humana. O artigo tem duas seções principais. A primeira seção realiza uma reconsideração crítica da geografia humana no contexto de transformação. A próxima seção examina especificamente o papel da pesquisa geográfica no avanço do saber [scholarship] Africano. O artigo conclui que a Afrocentricidade fornece um quadro útil para criticar categorias e conceitos geográficos aceitos e amplamente utilizados; repensando assim o que os geógrafos fazem e as implicações disso de uma perspectiva Africana centrada.
