The intersection between gender and the environment constitutes an intellectual field that intertwines the simultaneous processes of production of nature and production of subjects, paying special attention to how these subjects and their relationship with the environment are mediated by processes of differentiation and domination based on gender and power. In view of the significant impacts of environmental disasters caused by climate change that are viral in the headlines, but without a critical eye, this reflection takes stock of the literature that addresses gender and the environment. The objective is to offer a theoretical genealogy regarding gender roles in the articulations between politics and the environment, integrating an intersectional perspective on the effects of climate change and the construction of public policies for its mitigation.
