Abstract

The article focuses on the possible relationship of Geography with Early Childhood Education, being absent in the official curricula of this stage of basic education. However, the form of the research is based on the observation of children's practices and behaviors when facing Environmental Education activities, aiming at the manifestation of geographic knowledge by the children. The researchers, in turn, chose as methodology the daily research, having as method of analysis the direct observation, in which the observer studies and participates in the doing-research. Therefore, interpretation lenses were needed in face of the students' communications, such as, for example, gestures, expressions, and sounds, so that it was possible to start the analyses. Thus, the work was based on direct observation of the environmental practices of the teaching staff of the Reinaldo Ridolfi CMEI in the Maria Ortiz neighborhood in Vitória, through events held at the school by the Municipal Secretary of Environment (SEMMAM). The research revealed possibilities of Geography in early childhood education, since the categories of analysis of the geographic science appeared considerably in the observed daily life.
